An influencer mum, who was slammed over a “dangerous” detail in a photo of her newborn baby, has issued a response to the haters.
Trisha Paytas is known for creating controversy with her larger-than-life personality on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram – and the birth of her first child was no exception.
Paytas, 34, announced the birth of her first daughter on Instagram and Twitter in September - and immediately caused a furore when she declared the baby’s name was Malibu Barbie Paytas-Hacmon.
Trolls branded the name choice “cruel and selfish”
“It is an ugly game played by the poor baby’s parents. It is NOT a cute name,” one user said.
But the controversy did not end there.
Weeks later Paytas shared a snap of her little girl sitting in an armchair alongside the caption: “Introducing my new podcast host”.
And commenters immediately seized on a detail in the pic.
“How could prop her up like this !!!! Are you out of your mind? Her neck needs support at all times,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Putting your newborn in this sitting position is extremely dangerous,” another told her.
“You should be ashamed of yourself that you do this to her over and over again even though you’ve been told multiple times that this is dangerous. You do not deserve this innocent child.”
“She cannot be positioned like that!! No one is being snarky or hateful, just concerned for the sweet girl!” another added.
