At a House Oversight Committee hearing on Tuesday focused on "anti-democratic extremist groups and the ongoing threat to democracy," Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) continually asked trans activist Alejandra Caraballo if tweeting Supreme Court Justices "should never have a peaceful moment in public again." is a threat to democracy.

"Do you stand by these comments, this kind of rhetoric on social media? Do you believe it is a threat to democracy?"

"Thank you for the opportunity to clarify and add context to my tweets," Caraballo responded.

"I asked the question, it is a yes or no? Do you believe your rhetoric is a threat to democracy when you're calling to accost a branch of government -- the Supreme Court?" Mace asked.

"I don't believe that is a correct characterization of my statements," Caraballo said.

"But you tweeted it. Did you not tweet that?" Mace asked.

"That is not an accurate characterization of my statements," Caraballo repeated.
