A gas explosion occurred at a well-known cooking gas plant located on Effurun/Sapele road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. The NELMIC Gas Plant, which is located opposite the Effurun Post Office, caught fire around 10:30 pm on Monday night. The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time, but witnesses reported hearing a loud sound before the fire destroyed the entire plant. The fire was spreading quickly to neighboring residential buildings and a church in the area before the fire service arrived to intervene. It is unclear how many casualties there are, but some people are believed to have died, while others were injured in the incident. The police public relations officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, has not yet commented on the situation.
