A snowmobiler in Idaho narrowly escaped a potentially fatal encounter with a charging moose. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning near Palisades, was captured on video and has since gone viral.
The snowmobiler, identified as Josiah Bigelow, was riding on a trail with his brother Jeremiah and other family members when the moose suddenly appeared. In the video, the massive animal can be seen charging directly at Josiah, who was able to maneuver his snowmobile out of the way just in time.
Despite the close call, both the man and the moose walked away from the incident without injury. However, the snowmobile sustained damage as the moose fell over it during the encounter.
Moose are known for being territorial and can become aggressive when they feel threatened. The animals, which can weigh over 1,000 lbs, are also capable of causing serious injury or death with their sharp antlers.
