On March 8th, an unexpected incident occurred during a flight training exercise. Pilot-in-training Ronald Shearer, age 33, was tasked with troubleshooting a malfunctioning door sensor that had falsely indicated the door was open. As part of the troubleshooting process, Ronald jiggled the handle to see if the sensor would return an accurate reading. However, his actions had an unforeseen consequence as the door suddenly flew open, causing fast-moving air to rush into the cockpit.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Ronald managed to maintain his composure and held onto the door while the flight crew prepared for an immediate landing. Once they landed safely, Ronald and his co-pilot laughed about the incident and declined assistance from air traffic control when offered. They quickly resumed their training and were soon ready to take off again.
