A New Jersey police officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver while assisting a disabled vehicle on Saturday night. Officer Connor Boyle was standing outside his patrol car when a 2020 Volkswagen Passat hit him as well as his patrol car and the disabled vehicle. The driver of the Passat, identified as Rachel Glatt, didn't stop and continued driving. Officer Boyle managed to call for help and was taken to the hospital where he was later released and expected to recover fully. Investigators identified and arrested Glatt, charging her with second-degree aggravated assault on a police officer, fourth-degree assault by auto, reckless driving, and other related offenses. She was taken to the Mercer County Correctional Facility for processing. The incident raises concerns about the need for drivers to be alert and cautious when driving, particularly in situations where emergency vehicles are present.
