In a quirky and centuries-old tradition, a Mexican mayor, Victor Sosa, tied the knot with a crocodile in a symbolic ceremony held in San Pedro Huamelula. The event, rooted in indigenous customs, is believed to bring a bountiful harvest to the region. As part of the ritual, Mayor Sosa affectionately kissed the head of the crocodile, which was adorned in a white wedding dress befitting the occasion. The reptile, considered a deity representing Mother Earth and referred to as the "little princess," played a significant role in the cultural celebration. The wedding symbolizes the harmony between the Chontal and Huave indigenous groups and has been practiced for over two centuries.
