President Joe Biden appeared to embellish yet again the story of how a lightning strike caused a fire at his home nearly two decades ago.
This time around, he was delivering remarks Friday while in Colorado to survey the damage caused by a rare winter wildfire in the Denver suburbs that destroyed more than 1,000 homes and other buildings last week.
"Jill and I have not gone through what you've gone through, but we have had lightning strike our home and almost lose our home," Biden said.
Republicans were quick to chastise Biden.
It then cited a 2004 report from the Associated Press about the lighting strike that hit the Bidens' home in Delaware and caused "a small fire ... contained to the kitchen" that according to a fire official was producing heavy smoke when firefighters arrived, but it "was under control in 20 minutes."
