Kent Brown, owner and farmer of Brown Family Farm LLC, has been wrongfully
On Tuesday Kent went to use his debit card and was met with it being declined. Knowing there was plenty of money in the bank, he got on his bank app to see what was going on. The account was frozen and his account was beyond negative. He called Chase Bank immediately where they advised him they received a request to have a levy put on his bank account by the United Collections Bureau in Indiana. He called the collection agency who stated they received a notice from the Indiana Dept of Revenue that the IRS adjusted his taxes and money is owed.
Kent never received any documents. He confirmed the IRS never sent anything to him. The Dept of Revenue wouldn't provide the form or the form number from the IRS. Kent was advised to get a Record of the Account for the year in question and submit it. After calling the IRS multiple times, each time, they confirmed no changes had been made to any of his taxes. He called the Dept of Revenue and provided proof of this and it was escalated to a tax advocate who submitted the request to have the levy removed. At this moment, the money is still being held, his accounts are locked.
Chase is set to release the funds today to the state of Indiana. If they end up releasing the funds there is no estimated turnaround time and no guarantee he will get the funds back.
Kent never provided the government with his banking information. His taxes were done correctly, this never needed to happen.
Kent is a farmer whose goal is to provide clean quality food to the community. He uncovers and shares the truth to help make others aware.
Since his funds are locked and no sign of being released at this point Kent isn't able to secure funds for his family, an attorney, etc.
Kent is always working on ways to share his knowledge, expertise, and products with the community. There has been a serious overreach over the government or corporations and it could happen to anyone.
