Queens man is terrorizing his neighbors by running naked, masturbating, screaming with a megaphone, and bashing walls with a hammer; ‘We’re all terrified.’
“My children, they have nightmares about this guy...They sleep under their beds” One resident said.
Alexandre Lais' erratic behavior at 23-35 Broadway has caused three tenants to break their leases and move, according to court documents.
An incident in January led to the NYPD’s SWAT team being called.
“He goes around, kicking everyone’s doors, and he throws stuff out his windows onto the street” Another neighbor said.
Despite his alleged lewd and threatening actions, Lais has not been arrested, and the building’s owners have been unable to evict him.
“He once said he’d burn the whole building down” The neighbor added.
Building owner Broadway Crescent Realty has been attempting to evict Lais since June 2023, citing a breach of lease terms.
“He plays looped recordings of himself talking, or babies crying...The other day, it was porn, real loud” the resident notes.
A judge dismissed the eviction case, but the company moved to revive it in December.
The NYPD has responded to the building 281 times in the last two years, including on Jan. 20, when Lais allegedly barricaded himself inside his apartment after tenants called 911.
