Two illegals from Romania are charged with hate crimes for posing as ICE, Police or FBI agents to threaten Hispanic robbery victims with deportation
Laurentiu Baceanu and Vasile Alexandru, both 19, possibly affiliated with organized crime groups in Romania, face kidnapping, false imprisonment, and robbery charges in Contra Costa County
Prosecutors said the men posed as ICE officers, police, or FBI agents while targeting Hispanic victims over the past month
The district attorney’s office suspects the suspects operated their robbery scheme not only in Contra Costa County but also potentially in Santa Clara County, as well as Washington state and New York.
Jail records show Baceanu is being held at the Theo Lacy Facility, while Alexandru did not appear in a search
